The Broughton Townhouse is a beautifully restored Georgian hotel located in Edinburgh’s vibrant New Town. With a keen focus on design, comfort and personal touches, the hotel offers a boutique experience just moments from the city centre. Freak Design was approached to create a refined digital presence that would reflect the elegance of the interiors, the charm of the townhouse architecture, and the friendly, independent spirit of the brand.
To bring the visual identity to life, we commissioned a local watercolour illustrator to produce a suite of bespoke paintings. These soft, characterful sketches now feature across the site and wider branding, helping convey a unique sense of place and personality.
We designed and developed a fully responsive, WordPress-based website using Elementor, combining clean layout structures with warm, inviting design. Alongside the site, we created a new brand identity for The Broughton Townhouse, incorporating the commissioned illustrations into both the logo and visual language. The result is a distinctive, design-led brand that feels authentic and approachable.
A third-party booking engine was integrated seamlessly into the site to enable smooth and secure reservations. Since launch, the hotel has seen a marked increase in direct bookings, supported by the site’s clear structure, mobile-friendly design, and visual storytelling.
