Wedderlie House is a breathtaking Georgian country house and private estate nestled in the Scottish Borders, offering an exclusive and intimate setting for weddings, celebrations and private stays. Freak Design was brought in to design and build a new website that could do full justice to the venue’s beauty and character, while also working hard as a commercial tool. The brief was to attract enquiries from couples and event organisers across Scotland and beyond. We took a considered, detail-led approach from the outset, working closely with the Wedderlie team to understand their vision, their guests and the very particular kind of experience they offer.
The result is a website built to convert as well as inspire, one that positions Wedderlie House as the exceptional venue it truly is.
We designed and built a rich, immersive website using WordPress and Elementor, structured to guide potential clients through everything Wedderlie has to offer. From the grandeur of the house itself to the intimacy of its grounds and the flexibility of its event spaces, every section was crafted with purpose.
Photography sits at the heart of the design. Hero imagery and full-width gallery sections showcase the estate across seasons, capturing the kind of light and atmosphere that words alone cannot convey. Every page was crafted to make a prospective couple feel the pull of the place before they ever set foot on the gravel drive.
Alongside the design build, we carried out a full SEO foundation including structured metadata, image optimisation via alttext.ai, a clean URL architecture and 301 redirect mapping to protect any existing search equity during the transition to the new site. A GDPR-compliant cookie consent solution was implemented to ensure the site launched on solid legal footing.
The final site is clean, elegant and fast, a true reflection of the care and attention to detail that defines every event at Wedderlie House.
